Le Garage Moderne, a multidisciplinary cultural and social centre located in Bordeaux's Bacalan district, launches the second edition of its OASIS international artist residency, offering 5 funded residencies for artists from all disciplines to develop site-specific projects within one of Bordeaux's most unique community-driven cultural spaces.

Artists are invited to create site-specific projects that engage with the architecture, the scale of the building and its vibrant community. Proposals may involve visual arts, design, performance, film, architecture, crafts, sound, socially engaged practices or interdisciplinary approaches.

Selected artists will also collaborate with Le Garage Moderne's permanent residents and three local artists participating in the OASIS programme.

What the Residency Offers

Each selected artist will receive:

  • 2-week residency in Bordeaux (November–December 2026)

  • Artist fee: €1,300 (gross)

  • Production budget: up to €600

  • Accommodation in a self-catering hotel

  • Daily allowance: €45/day

  • Travel grant (lump sum based on distance, with additional support for green travel)

  • Access to Le Garage Moderne's workshops, equipment and shared spaces throughout the residency.

Applicants may apply for one or more of the following residency sessions:

  • Residency 1: 9–22 November 2026

  • Residency 2: 16–29 November 2026

  • Residency 3: 23 November – 6 December 2026

  • Residency 4: 30 November – 13 December 2026

  • Residency 5: 7–20 December 2026

During the residency, artists are expected to:

  • develop a site-specific artistic project;

  • engage with the local community and fellow artists;

  • deliver two days of masterclasses or workshops presenting their artistic practice and techniques;

  • present the outcome of the residency through a public format (exhibition, performance, installation, screening, open studio or similar).

Artists retain ownership of all works produced. Le Garage Moderne will document and promote the residency outcomes for up to three years after completion.

  • Public Space & Street Furniture

  • Community-based and Interdisciplinary Practices


Projects that combine artistic experimentation with spatial, social and collaborative dimensions are particularly encouraged.
